Senate Meeting November 18th 2010

Senate Meeting  November 18th
-          Signs for Book Drive- Donate freshmen common reading books
o   Where to put them – library, campus center
o   What to say
o   Who will make them
-          Sign up for work assignments for book drive
o   Putting up signs and boxes
o   Emptying boxes – last two days of class and finals week
o   Boxing up books and mailing
·         There is a new lady specifically in charge of book drives at the company we work with, and she is emailing all the professors about the book drive
-          Dead day
o   Plan some fun activities
§  Wii
§  Movie
o   Update on food and what we have planned already
o   Email Vic to see if he can play settles/other game with us
o   Other teachers? Beck, Petit, Cullum, Towell, Campos, Shilcutt, Brannon

o   Call for apps
o   Email apps to everyone + future freshman
§  Let know what we do
§  How to apply
§  Apps due on dead day
§  Those suggested by us will get special email saying they were recommended
o   Kelsey will go through the apps and send us her top picks
o   Looking for 5-6 new members
-          Next semester Murder Mystery
o   Andrew Kinnamen’s script has been approved
o   Dinner will be on March 4th or 5th
o   Email with excerpts for audition during the last week of school sent out
o   Rehearsals start first week back
-          Next senate meeting is after Thanksgiving
-          See post about times for next semester’s meeting. Time options are 4-5, 430-530, and 530-6 on any weekday (mon-fri). Please put your top few desired times, and list which other times you could come to even if they are not ideal.

Senate Meeting November 4th 2010

Senate Meeting November 4th
-          Masquerade wrap-up
o   Picking up photo booth photos beginning of this week
o   Get pictures the optimist took?
o   Facebook and email photos

-          Book drive
o   On-going
o   Set out boxes
§  One in honors commons
§  One in library
§  One in campus center during finals week
o   Ad on myacu
o   Check boxes each week on the way to the meeting
§  Get a new volunteer each week

-          Humans vs Zombies
o   Can use nerf if not realistic looking… but going to use socks since the police would appreciate that
o   Provost office needs to approve
o   Do early next semester instead of this semester
§  Do on the second week of school
§  Sign-ups the first week of school
§  Promote game at end of this semester
§  Could still do assassins later in the semester, like after spring break
o   Honors will furnish the bandanas, players furnish their socks
o   Mary writing safe zone ideas so we can discuss them at the next meeting
o   If the game lasts too long zombie survival time (time they can go between feedings) may be cut down

Senate Meeting October 28th 2010

“Red Carpet Affair”
-          Selling tickets Friday in the campus center: Becca and Mary
-          At the event
o   Set up will meet at Zellner at 5:15 on Friday and go over to the Paramount with Kelsey: Britt, Krystal, Amanda, Ellen
o   Take down will be very quick right after and we will load up a car: Katherine, Caitlin, Dominick
o   During the evenings events, I will need two people to mam the candy and water selling station: Caitlin and Katherine
o   Also, I will need one person assisting with the photo booth: Britt and Becca
o   We need a few people by the doors greeting people and directing people where to go: Krystal and Mary
o   The last person I need is someone to be in charge of the judges and taking care of them : Dominick
§  Judges are Jana Beck, Heidi Noble, Richard Beck?
§  If Richard Beck can’t then Greg, Leslie, or Stephanie will take his place
-          Timeline
o   Arrive: 7pm – walk red carpet, have picture taken, candy guessing game, buy snacks (50 cents per)
o   7:20 – 7:30 – everyone seated, introduction/welcome
o   7:30 – Movie
o   Conclusion of movie – winners of candy contests announced, costume contest. Judges on stage
§  First prize is ipad
§  2nd & 3rd are movie baskets with various snacks and movies – one is more guy oriented in its movie selection and the other more girl oriented.
o   Finally/goodbyes
Other
-          Can do humans vs zombies as long as we don’t use realistic weapons
-          Not much to do for deep dish except make sure to show up!

Last Minute Red Carpet Affair things...


Things to decide on ASAP....

  • keep giving away those tickets and if you haven't picked up your envelope of tickets, PLEASE come get those from me today
  • Chapel presentation on Friday
    • Please if you can, come and help set up from 11:00-11:20 outside moody and then pass out fliers until 11:45. So far I already have: Krystal, Ellen and Mary helping me with that, but we need as many of you as possible. 
  • I still need some of you to sign up to give out tickets from 11:30-12:30 everyday this week (the blank spots). So far, here is our schedule for that.... 
    • Today, Monday: Daniel 
    • Tuesday: Daniel and Mary
    • Wednesday: Katherine and ____________
    • Thursday: Caitlin and Dominick
    • Friday: _________________ and  ____________
  • At the event.... 
    • I need  about 5 people to help me set up and the rest of you for take down....

    • The last person I need is someone to be in charge of the judges and taking care of them ___________. This person also needs to have some time either later this afternoon or Wednesday anytime to help me with the judges criteria and grading sheets.
  • I will purchase the gift baskets tomorrow or Wednesday and the ipad.
  • I will also buy the snacks to sell at the event
